Game 5 Ramblers vs Winsloe

Jun. 29 - 2021

Game 5 Ramblers vs Winsloe Win 2-1

This was by far our hardest played game to date. It felt intense, competitive and positive. The Winsloe team was strong and both teams played heavy in front of each others nets. Right before half was called, Winsloe socred to break the 0-0 bubble. Do you think that fazed the Rambler girls? Absolutely not. Some teams might deflate a bit after 29min of intense back and forth, but these girls have such a positive competitive attitude that to be scored on just brings them stronger together and more determined.

We welcomed Janessa Harding to the team for her first game with us. We quickly found out that Janessa is a shark on defence!! The girls on bench cheered loudly for their teammates, many times just for Janessa's impressive playing. She stopped Winsloe's offence over and over with phenomenal skill. Janessa played a shift and half without a hint of slowing down and ran hard in the forwards. We are joyed and happy to have you on the team and I look forward to seeing how much further you develop with your skills this summer. Bravo!

Meredith & Sutton played their best defensive game. I told Meredith she was a fortress, there was no getting by her, she was solid in her game. Sutton was amazing as usual and showed us how to turn out to the side and pass up! Meredith & Sutton, when playing forwards you tend to drift back to the defence line and play defence. Remember to stay up on the sides for a pass from the defence. Intense game ladies, you both worked hard!

Addison & Sienna each scored a goal when playing Striker. Sienna was on fire in this game. Defence, forward & Striker, she was a force. Every time she claimed the ball she ran hard. I knew it was the game to place her as striker because no one was stopping her stride, she flew past Winsloe's defence and into the net the ball went. Sienna claimed MVP. Addison played in the forwards for the majority of this game, her skill to run and pass the ball was key. Incredible job ladies, really well played.

Arya's goalie debut had Stefanie and I smiling and laughing. Every time Arya stopped the ball there was a huge victorious smile accompanied by a happy hop, bounce, skip some ball pumps in the air. She was the happiest joyful goalie I've ever seen. She volunteered as goalie, saying why not? I want to try it. Great attitude! And Arya, you were fabulous.

Riley, Leila, Molly, Sydney & Scarlett all played forward and some striker as well. Without them the ball would not have moved up and amongst the team as it had. I heard more talking and calling for the ball, and I would like to hear more of it. In a game like this where it was fast and the pressure was relentless, you really need to talk and call to each other when you are there for the pass and support, or if your teammate has time. Meaning if your teammate gets the ball and there is no one near her then call "time" letting her know she has a few seconds to run with the ball and to decide what she will do from there. Amazing work girls.

Gray showed us she can be first to the ball, kick big and be aggressive. One of the girls told her she saw Gray sprint to the ball and run with it, we were all impressed. I want to see that on a regular basis! You will be unstoppable!

Bridget played goalie in 2nd half, and not once did she let the ball in. There were so many shots, direct and indirect kicks at Bridget, I was amazed by how she stopped them all. Superb Bridget!

Truly a great game. You should all be very proud of yourselves.
